Entry 10

9/24/11

The last schedule update for the year waas posted on the Facebook group today. The group enjoyed so success over the last month or two. The employees have made good use of it and took to it quickly once it was up and running. The Facebook pagehas not been as successful, most of the people who would find it useful are mothers who take there children to the pool, and that has proved a difficult audience to communicate with, especially using social media. I hope it will grow, though, as it is clearly something useful to members.

I started my facebook group for employees today. Other than removing one user who was not mature enough, it has gone over well so far. The people using it have quickly piled up and i think it will be a nice addition to the employee's experience. I used a picture I edited for the group picture.

Today was the day of the swim team banquet. At the event they showed the end-of-seasonslideshow, featuring a number of my pictures. While my pictures were included with the pictures of other photos of swim team members, it was easy for mine to be identified because they were edited. They seemed to go well with the slideshow, and the swim team enjoyed the event.

Editing the pictures proved fairly time consuming, but was not too challenging as I learn to navigate the photo editor with more ease. Each photo follows generally the same pattern, of clearing and lighting and sharpening, depending on when /where the photo was taken. The filters come in handy when the picture is more scenic or artistic. Each picture can take between about 5 and 20 minutes to edit depending on the image. With over 100 pictures, this time adds up, but the pictures are coming out well.

I took another round of swim team pictures today. This time I took about 4x as many pictures as before, and of a wider variety of age groups and situations. Many members actively participated in having their photo taken for the end-of-year celebration, especially younger kids who look forward to seeing themselves in the slideshow.

First time taking pictures for s swim meet tonight. As part of a fairly loose organization of photographers getting pictures for the final PowerPoint, it took some getting used to in order to find what/when needed to be photographed. Along with some shots of the pool taken earlier today, I took more than 30 pictures. I think there should be some usable pictures in there somewhere...

I worked to edit the first pictures today. The editing software I'm using is all free, downloaded from safe sites on the internet. They allow me to sharpen and clear up the images which is useful for keeping the images clean and recognizable. They also allow me to adjust brightness, which helps since many pictures were taken in bright sunlight. Finally, lots of filters are available for the photos to give them unique effects and keep them visually appealing.
